Why does copying files take so long

I've been trying to transfer a 3.20GB series of tv shows unto it, and it's running at a turtle speed of 450 KB/S! Hello, I am using Excel 2010 on a 64 bit Windows 7 O.S. I have a problem with a file when saving it. When I save the file, it seems to take a long time to save and at the same time, it will go in and out of 'Not Responding'. It's a bit of a joke, I've been trying for over a week to sync my data, still 14K files to go (out of 25K), there is close to 100Gb of photos etc, but it's painful, why is it so slow. I'm a network Engineer by trade so I'm aware of my connection limiting it, but it shouldn't be taking this long!!!
Is File History turned on, this can slow things down - In Windows File Explorer, on the View Ribbon, click 'Options' Uncheck these two options and click 'Clear' Also are you using any cloud service like OneDrive or DropBox to sync your files, this too can slow down file management operations as the operation has to be mirrored in the sync folder and then onto the cloud . . .
They have issues trying to make the UI responsive and calculate time to copy. but i have seen their estimates are always off. seems they over estimate how long it will take to copy to external drives and USBs. Aug 17, 2016 · The trouble is, the Downloads folder has all sorts of files from documents, presentations, images, to zipped archives. The ‘General Items’ is the best content selection for the Downloads given its content so that the ‘optimization’ part doesn’t take too long.

Is there any way to disable the "preparing to copy" part so that when I copy anything, it simply starts copying right away? I don't need to the OS to...
